Gambling, Drinking and Quality of Life: Evidence from Macao and Australia

摘要: The investigation of the interface between psychological constructs, compulsive consumption alcohol and pathological gambling is an important avenue for development future initiatives in social marketing or prevention programs. This cross-cultural study attempts to bridge gap literature by providing evaluation predictive ability variables such as urge, gambling-related erroneous cognitions comorbid on behaviour its impact overall quality life indicators. Participants consist 445 Macao Australian young adults (Mean age = 23 years). Results indicate that probable gamblers compared with non-gamblers reported significantly lower all domains-physical health, well-being, relationships environment. Adults who drank more have stronger evidenced higher behavior. Our research model fits both cohorts interestingly, serve a full mediator relationship urge sample, but partial sample. Targeting preventive campaigns should demonstrate be strategy reducing effects gamble among at-risk individuals. Further implications industry, governmental strategies are discussed.
