摘要: CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVE: Farmacia Dose Certa is a program available in the State of Sao Paulo that national reference for providing drugs free charge to population. Elderly people receiving care deserve special attention regarding are appropriate their age group. The objective was assess considered be inappropriate elderly. DESIGN SETTING: Descriptive study evaluating drug distribution Paulo, Brazil. METHODS: Following criteria proposed by Beers and Fick (drugs or classes should avoided among elderly people, independent diagnosis clinical condition, because high risk side effects other, safer available), might levels evidence each included were assessed. RESULTS: Among drugs, 10 (25.6%) within Beers-Fick criteria. selected were: amitriptyline, cimetidine, diazepam, digoxin, fluoxetine, methyldopa, nifedipine, promethazine, thioridazine ferrous sulfate. CONCLUSION: list may general population, but not completely Adjusting this pharmacological aspects aging will reduce risks interactions, falls, mental confusion excessive sedation result from consumption
