摘要: Abstract Neurodegenerative diseases are highly debilitating conditions characterised primarily by progressive neuronal loss and impairment of the nervous system. Parkinson's disease (PD) is one most common these disorders, affecting 1–2% population above age 65. Although underlying mechanisms PD have been extensively studied, we still lack a full understanding molecular underpinnings disease. Thus, in vitro vivo models currently used able to only partially recapitulate typical phenotypes Here, review various cell culture study basis PD, with focus on alpha-synuclein-associated pathologies. We also discuss how different may constitute powerful tools for high-throughput screening molecules capable modulating alpha-synuclein toxicity.
