Opening a large full phononic band gap in thin elastic plate with resonant units

摘要: In this paper, the mechanism for opening a locally resonant band gap in thin elastic plate is investigated. Two previously suggested structures, which are constructed by periodically drilling holes on and then filling them with rubber-coated masses, or just stubbing rubber rods mass cap plate, revisited. We find that, because of partial gaps in-plane out-of-plane modes cannot be appropriately overlapped, full both structures generally narrow. The reason phenomenon based selective coupling between different patterns units modes. Based understanding, new structure three-layered spherical proposed. Numerical results show making use such kind units, large sub-wavelength can opened.
