Pilot evaluation of mirtazapine for the treatment of hot flashes.

摘要: This prospective, single-arm, pilot clinical trial, developed to evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of mirtazapine for alleviating hot flashes, was conducted between May 2001 January 2002. Patients' baseline characteristics were collected during first week study. At beginning second week, patients started on at a dose 7.5 mg bedtime. The then increased 15 3 30 4. Data obtained primarily from patient-completed questionnaires. 22 evaluable women available. 16 who completed study, median reductions in total daily flashes weekly hot-flash scores their baselines 52.5% 59.5%, respectively. Patients reported improvements tension, trouble sleeping, abnormal sweating, distress satisfaction with control, overall quality life, impact life. also increases appetite dry mouth. Although data double-blind, placebo-controlled trial would be necessary more definitively elucidate toxicity available suggest that is reasonable treatment consider particularly those anxiety sleep disturbances.
