Antigenic cross-reactions among herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2, Epstein-Barr virus, and cytomegalovirus.

摘要: Polyvalent rabbit antisera against herpes simplex virus type 1 and 2 (HSV-1 HSV-2), cytomegalovirus (CMV), Epstein-Barr (EBV), monospecific affinity-purified HSV-2 glycoproteins gB gG, a panel of monoclonal antibodies HSV EBV proteins were used to analyze cross-reactive molecules in cells infected with the four herpesviruses. A combination immunoprecipitation Western blotting these reagents was determine that all viruses coded for glycoprotein cross-reacted HSV-1 gB. CMV gC, gD, gE. Both gG. Antigenic counterparts p45 nucleocapsid protein present CMV, major DNA-binding ribonucleotide reductase viruses. The virion gp85 immunoprecipitated by HSV-1, HSV-2, CMV. Antisera neutralized infectivity both at high concentrations. This suggests cross-reactivity between human herpesviruses may have pathogenic as well evolutionary significance.
