Posttraumatic Stress Disorder in Older Adults: A Conceptual Review.

摘要: Objectives: We provide a review of the literature on posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in older adults, focusing largely U.S. military veterans two primary areas: 1) assessment and diagnosis 2) non-pharmacological treatment PTSD late life. Methods: performed search using PubMed Academic Search Premier (EBSCO) databases reviewed reference sections selected papers. also drew our own clinical perspectives reflections seven expert mental health practitioners. Results: Rates are lower compared with younger adults. The presence sub-syndromal/partial is important may impact patient functioning. Treatment adaptations likely warranted adults co-morbidities (e.g., chronic illness, pain, sensory, or cognitive changes).
