Wind and ship wave-induced resuspension in the littoral zone of a large lake

摘要: [1] Sediment resuspension in lake littoral zones (nearshore region) is strongly related to the properties of surface wavefield. The occurrence and characteristics waves, near-bottom current velocities, suspended sediment concentrations were measured simultaneously Lake Constance over 1 year. Wind ship waves are distinguished on basis their typical properties, enabling a detailed investigation respective importance for resuspension. In zone Constance, occurred during 25% entire observation period. Of those observations, 54% caused by which therefore as important wind waves. Resuspension induced occurs rather sporadically throughout year, whereas wave-induced regularly daytime summer hence associated with pronounced diurnal seasonal patterns concentration.
