摘要: Background: Theoretical models on shift work fall short of describing relevant health-related pathways associated with the broader concept nonstandard working schedules. Shift neither combine time characteristics applicable to schedules nor include role rest periods and recovery in development health complaints. Therefore, this paper aimed develop a comprehensive model address these shortcomings. Methods: A literature review was conducted using systematic search selection process. Two searches were performed: one associating time-of-day duration after health. Data extracted from used Results: For characteristics, strategy yielded 3044 references, which 26 met inclusion criteria that contained 22 distinctive models. work, 896 seven containing Of three combined duration, 18 (i.e. work), duration. The developed has approach hours other work-related risk factors proposes they should be balanced by positive non-work maintain Physiological processes leading complaints are circadian disruption, sleep deprivation, activation counterbalanced (re-)entrainment, restorative sleep, recovery, respectively, Conclusions: developed. as well their physiological need good gives researchers useful overview over various considered when studying any form schedule.
