Colposcopic genital findings in prepubertal girls assessed for sexual abuse.

摘要: After the introduction of colposcope for examination children suspected being sexually abused in Leeds, a study was undertaken to describe findings detail. A total 109 consecutive prepubertal girls, mean age 70.4 months were assessed including colposcopic genital and anal examination, peer group review reports photographs. Fifty nine had signs consistent with blunt force penetrating trauma (hymenal transection/major notch, scar, or hymenal attenuation). Transections encountered most commonly at 6 o'clock (directly posterior). In 46 orifice gaping thigh abduction only 47 transverse diameter greater than 4 mm on labial separation. Overall, physical present two cases no recorded. Non-specific frequent included patterns introital reddening. Supportive swelling, rounding edge, thickening, distortion, loss symmetry common. Labial fusion 20. Urethral dilatation separation noted 14. Physical normality are abuse even minor anogenital as well negative should be documented. Colposcopy photography valuable tools review, teaching, case management.
