摘要: Abstract Time series of temperature, salinity, nitrate, primary production and chlorophyll over 1989–1996 at station H3/M1 in central Monterey Bay, CA, USA, are described, an `average year’ is calculated for each parameter. Surface spatial data on from spring fall 1993 also presented. water (0–5 m) was coldest saltiest (∼10–11°C; S =33.4–33.8), warmed during summer (∼14°C), remained warm but freshened ( =33.3–33.4), cooled further winter (∼13°C; =32.9–33.3). Nitrate time show high concentrations (10–20 μM) present the surface summer; low 100 mg C m −3  da −1 ) occurred upper 20 m column, while (>3 mg m extended to 25–30 m. Phytoplankton blooms as pulses spring, occasionally fall. Springtime a `plume’ cold, salty, extending N–S across mouth Bay. The time-series lies path this plume. High productivity values occur margins Fall temperatures salinities warmer fresher than were low. There less variability A temperature/salinity Bay 1951 1991 Kuo, shows similar seasonal patterns. However, least 100 m, particularly non-upwelling seasons, later onset upwelling. These differences accord with `regime shift’ associated changes documented California Current by other workers. Long-term climatologies not available comparison presented paper.
