摘要: Background This study, conducted between 1998 and 2001 analyzed in 2002 2003, was designed to test (1) whether exercise is an efficacious treatment for mild moderate major depressive disorder (MDD), (2) the dose-response relation of reduction symptoms. Design The study a randomized 2×2 factorial design, plus placebo control. Setting/Participants All performed supervised laboratory setting with adults ( n =80) aged 20 45 years diagnosed MDD. Intervention Participants were one four aerobic groups that varied total energy expenditure (7.0 kcal/kg/week or 17.5 kcal/kg/week) frequency (3 days/week 5 days/week) control flexibility exercise). 17.5-kcal/kg/week dose consistent public health recommendations physical activity termed "public dose" (PHD). 7.0-kcal/kg/week "low (LD). Main outcome measures primary score on 17-item Hamilton Rating Scale Depression (HRSD 17 ). Results main effect reducing HRSD scores at 12 weeks significant. Adjusted mean reduced 47% from baseline PHD, compared 30% LD 29% There no weeks. Conclusions Aerobic effective MDD severity. A lower comparable effect.
