摘要: Summary Experiments are reported in which combined longitudinal and torsional plastic waves generated thin-walled tubes of alpha-titanium by subjecting pre-torqued to impact. Longitudinal strain-time profiles recorded at several stations along the specimen. These exhibit features cannot be explained within framework a strain-rate independent theory. The latter theory requires wave under loading employed consist of, successively, fast simple wave, an intermediate constant state region, slow final constant-state region. experiments show no evidence region; furthermore, region is not observed even though latest times observation greater than time which, according theory, expected. Straightforward generalization rate-dependent allow for stress states leads predicts with good accuracy.
