摘要: Background Management of head and neck carcinoma from unknown primary (HNCUP) remains controversial, with dissection radiotherapy (RT) or definitive RT both commonly used. The purpose this study was to characterize HNCUP retrospectively compare outcomes for patients treated dissection + RT versus RT. Methods From 1994 2009, 41 underwent either (n = 22) RT ± concurrent chemotherapy (n = 19) at our institution. Treatment were compared using Kaplan–Meier methods log-rank test. Results There no differences between in overall survival (OS), progression-free (PFS), locoregional relapse-free (LRFS), freedom failure (FFLRG), distant (FFDF). Among 17 who whom human papillomavirus (HPV) status could be determined, HPV(+) trended toward improved OS (p = .06) PFS (p = .15). Conclusion Neck postoperative resulted similar as RT. prognostic implications nodes are those oropharyngeal cancers. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Head Neck 36: 1589–1595, 2014
