摘要: Data from the 1987 National Health Interview Survey show that 51.1% of adults aged 18-99 years in United States consumed a vitamin/mineral supplement past year, but only 23.1% did so daily. Whites, women, and older individuals were more likely than blacks, men, younger to consume supplements regularly. Multivitamins most commonly supplement, followed by vitamin C, calcium, E, A. Results suggest supplementation practices have changed little since 1970s. regarding amounts nutrients obtained food frequency type methodology collects reasonably accurate data reflecting intake over year. Few, if any, consuming considered toxic. Although mineral is common health habit, it appears not pose significant risk for population.
