摘要: Cortical circuitry must facilitate information transfer in accordance with a neural code. In this article we examine two candidate codes: is represented the spike rate of neurons, or precise timing individual spikes. These codes can be distinguished by examining physiological basis highly irregular interspike intervals typically observed cerebral cortex. Recent advances our understanding cortical microcircuitry suggest that neuronal spikes conveys little, if any, information. The cortex likely to propagate noisy code through redundant, patchy interconnections.
