Item radicality as a measure of quality for attitude scales: a study using sex role beliefs

摘要: Abstract We examined the relationship between item radicality and quality or goodness, for attitude scale items measuring sex role beliefs. Item was defined as obviousness with which an represented extreme position toward attitudinal object. Initially, 70 undergraduates rated 150 belief resulting in highly reliable judgements of radicality. Subsequently, we used groups varying degree ideology to investigate quality. Results demonstrated that high is associated items. Findings were interpreted support rational approach test construction emphasizing use clear undisguised content.
