AGGREGATE NETWORK PERFORMANCE RELATIONS: THEORY AND EMPIRICAL RESULTS

摘要: This paper contributes to a theoretical basis for studying methods of transport network aggregation, and investigates the effects various ad hoc aggregation procedures. A mathematical model is formulated. Some details are given existing methodologies aggregating networks, including link abstraction reduction abstraction. For more complex structures, there considerable difficulties in obtaining analytical results, but general trends indicated. It found that aggregate models networks can usefully reduce both conceptual computational complexity, although they cannot fully reproduce behaviour detailed models.
