摘要: Objective: We examined whether muscle response times and activation patterns in the lower extremity differed between men women to a rotational knee perturbation while standing single-leg, weight-bearing stance. Design Setting: used device produce sudden, forward, either internal or external rotation moment of trunk femur relative tibia. Subjects completed 10 trials both perturbation; first 5 acceptable were averaged for data analysis. Two separate, repeated-measures analyses variance compare myoelectric perturbation. Subjects: Thirty-two female (19 lacrosse, 13 soccer) 32 male (lacrosse) healthy intercollegiate athletes participated study. Measurements: surface electromyography record long latency reflex medial lateral quadriceps, hamstring, gastrocnemius muscles. Results: Women responded faster than men, primarily due shorter quadriceps activation. However, exhibited no difference muscle-recruitment order. Conclusions: Although demonstrated similar an imposed perturbation, tended activate their earlier men. Whether this diminishes ability hamstrings adequately stabilize joint subjects anterior cruciate ligament greater risk injury is still unknown requires further Furthermore, although measurement are useful evaluating timing, order, coactivity musculature, future studies should evaluate sex differences across complete continuum, including measures intrinsic stiffness, electromechanical delay, time force production.
