摘要: When a soliton and dispersive pulse propagate in an optical fiber, they can interact via cross-phase modulation, which occurs when one modulates the refractive index experienced by other pulse. Cross-phase modulation causes each to shift wavelength amount proportional time delay between pulses. Changing pulses changes of This make it possible produce whose output wavelengths be tuned over large ranges, e.g. hundreds nm, as short repetition period laser (e.g., at rates megahertz or gigahertz). Such requires no moving parts, providing high reliability. The laser's path made entirely efficiency with low size, weight, power consumption.
