摘要: Ammonium removal from the wastewater treatment effluents is mandatory considering imposed discharge limits and recycling/reuse requirements. Ion exchange represents a viable alternative for biological processes of ammonium removal, although concurrent make modeling complex. This study reports on performance commercial cation resin, PUROLITE C150H, synthetic aqueous solutions. Thermodynamic kinetic process parameters are calculated using Langmuir model (thermodynamic study) shrinking core (kinetic study); data correlated with surface properties substrate, outlining adsorption mechanism. For initial concentrations 25–150 mg NH4 +/L, efficiencies 80–90 % were obtained.
