摘要: abstract: A new species of argasid tick (Acari: Argasidae) is described from immature and adult specimens collected several localities in Brazil. complete morphological account provided for all postembryonic life stages, i.e., larva, nymph, female, male. Ornithodoros cavernicolous n. sp. the 113th genus. Morphologically, shares common features, e.g., presence well-developed cheeks legs with micromammillate cuticle, other bat-associated ticks included subgenus Alectorobius. In particular, morphologically related to azteci Matheson, which it forms a group. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences supports placement within large clade that includes New World argasids. However, seems represent an independent lineage genus Ornithodoros.
