摘要: Mutants of Escherichia coli defective in phosphatidylserine synthase (encoded by pss) and decarboxylase psd) make cell membranes deficient phosphatidylethanolamine. In this report we show that wild-type pss psd genes are required for motility chemotaxis. Null mutants or strains with temperature-sensitive mutations grown at high temperature (35 degrees C) were nonmotile. They lacked flagella showed reduced rates transcription the flhD master operon (encoding FlhD FlhC), fliA sigma F), fliC flagellin). At low (25 C), mutant cells chemotaxis but levels. The extent defects was correlated amount phosphatidylethanolamine membranes, suggesting a link between membrane phospholipid composition expression flagellum regulon.
