摘要: Bimodal hybrid in-situ nano-/micro-size TiC/Al composites were prepared with combustion synthesis of Al-Ti-C system and hot press consolidation. Attempt was made to obtain bimodal-size TiC particle reinforced dense Al matrix by using different carbon sources in the reaction process pressing forming. Microstructure showed that obtained exhibited reasonable bimodal-sized distribution low porosity. With increasing nano tube (CNT) content from 0 100 wt. %, average size particles decreases compressive strength composite increase; while fracture strain increases first then decreases. The properties composites, especially synthesized 50 % CNTs as source, improved compared single sized TiC. strengthening mechanism aluminum revealed.
