摘要: On the Jos Plateau, soils derived from basalt and volcanic ash are much more intensively extensively utilized for agricultural purposes than granite soils. This study was carried out to determine differences that may have contributed this discrimination. Twenty four soil profiles were dug described in two separate catchment areas really portray variance. Soil samples analysed using standard procedures. The results show ash-derived relatively deeper profiles, lower bulk density, higher contents of clay, organic matter, exchangeable bases, micro-nutrients (Cu & Zn) weatherable minerals. They also their CEC base saturation percentage while available water capacity, hydraulic conductivity natural content adequate them. Hence, favourable crop growth deficiencies present constraints land use. Consequently, there between types crop-yielding capacities. These constitute a reflection parent material influence. Agriculture area is mainly low-input. There need improved management practices enhancement conditions particular whole general.
