摘要: Sandy bottoms, with local patches of rocks, dominate the southern Baltic Sea coast. These rock create three-dimensional habitats additional niches that can support diverse assemblages organisms. In this study we investigated macrofaunal associated boulder field in brackish Gulf Gdansk. Of 30 recorded taxa three animal species (Mytilus trossulus, Balanus improvisus and Electra crustulenta) together five algae were directly attached to rocks. engineering organisms provided for a further 22 taxa. Among fauna barnacles ( 7 6%) most abundant while among indirectly biota, oligochaetes dominant group 45 %). Rock size algal biomass explained variance structure investigated. There statistical differences assemblage between two separate localities within rocky patch, despite environmental homogeneity (salinity, water temperature sea bottom). mostly due dominance particular rather than composition. Our results show an otherwise soft sediment habitat provide living space macrofauna leading increase biodiversity organismal abundance.
