Observations of large-amplitude electromagnetic waves and associated wave–particle interactions at the dipolarization front in the Earth's magnetotail: A case study

摘要: Broadband frequency waves around the dipolarization front (DF) are believed to play a crucial role in particle dynamics. Using Cluster observations, we report this study large-amplitude electromagnetic with frequencies just above ion cyclotron at DF near-Earth magnetotail region. The have very large amplitudes of magnetic and electric field fluctuations, up ~2 nT ~10 mV/m, respectively. fluctuations predominately along ambient (B0), while primarily perpendicular B0. observed highly oblique propagation angle ~100° respect field, also linearly polarized. These features consistent properties Bernstein wave mode high plasma β region, current-driven driven by Alfven instability. We discuss possibility wave–particle interactions DF.
