Specific Detection of Serum Antibodies against BKPyV, A Small DNA Tumour Virus, in Patients Affected by Choroidal Nevi.

摘要: ABSTRACT Ocular or choroidal nevus (CN) is a rare benign neoplastic lesion of the eye. The cause CN onset/progression, which arises from transformation ocular melanocytes, not known. A fraction patients may develop uveal melanoma. objective this study was to investigate association between and BK polyomavirus (BKPyV), small DNA tumour virus. Serum IgG antibodies react with BKPyV antigens were analysed. indirect E.L.I.S.A. using synthetic peptides that mimic employed. against also investigated by haemagglutination inhibition (HAI) assay. Sera healthy subject (HS) control. statistically significant higher prevalence capsid protein in serum samples detected, compared HS, two independent techniques, HAI (87.3% vs. 62.1% HS 91.5% 64.4% respectively; p<0.005).
