摘要: Abstract Objective To describe the epidemiology of congenital rubella infections notified to Australian Paediatric Surveillance Unit (APSU) from 2004 2013 and compare that with previously published APSU data for 1993–2003. Methods Active national surveillance infection has been conducted through since 1993. Monthly reporting by child health clinicians according pre-defined case criteria triggers requests provide de-identified clinical, epidemiological, laboratory information. Data were extracted cases reported between January December compared previous years. Results Five confirmed identified during period. All five infants had defects consistent syndrome (CRS). Four born in Australia study period, all mothers overseas. Three not vaccination, two vaccination status was unknown, although both countries without routine immunization programmes. Since 1993, there have 57 notifications APSU; 40 these 1993 2013, whom 34 CRS. Conclusions Congenital is predominantly among children unimmunized immigrant mothers. Migrant women endemic remain an important group target vaccination. Rubella-susceptible women, especially those early stages pregnancy, should also carefully consider risks travelling countries.
