摘要: The ocean economy is growing as commercial use of the accelerates, while progress toward achieving international goals for conservation and sustainability lagging. In this context, private sector increasingly recognized having capacity to hamper efforts achieve aspirations sustainable ocean-based development or alternatively bend current trajectories by taking on mantle corporate biosphere stewardship. Here, we identify levels industry concentration assess where rests. We show that 10 largest companies in eight core industries generate, average, 45% each industry's total revenues. Aggregating across all industries, 100 corporations (the "Ocean 100") account 60% This level presents both risks opportunities ensuring equity global use.
