摘要: We have analyzed the lesion in wDZL, a genetically unstable mutant allele of eye color locus, white, Drosophila melanogaster. cloned DNA white locus region flies carrying wDZL and find 13 kilobase insertion not present wild-type at corresponding location. In 12 independent cases examined, reversion to phenotype correlates with excision portion this insertion, indicating that is cause mutation. The excised these revertants heterogeneous size but appears include central 6 kilobases all cases. Many continue undergo mutation residual sufficient promote mutations.
