Phenylpropanoids from Ballota nigra L. inhibit in vitro LDL peroxidation.

摘要: From the European plant Ballota nigra L. various polyphenols including phenylpropanoid derivatives were isolated. There is increasing evidence that oxidized low-density lipoproteins (Ox-LDL) might be involved in pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and it has been reported inhibit LDL peroxidation atherogenesis. The goal this study was to test whether major polyphenolic compounds extracted from nigra, four glycosides, verbascoside, forsythoside B, arenarioside, ballotetroside one non-glycosidic phenylpropanoid, caffeoyl-L-malic acid, Cu2+-induced peroxidation. effectiveness these compared activity quercetin, a well-known polyphenol inhibitor oxidation. Antioxidant efficacious doses (ED 50) arenarioside 1.8 µM 7.5 µM respectively, while same conditions, ED 50 B verbascoside similar (1 µM) those quercetin acid 2.3 µM 9.5 µM respectively.
