摘要: Ballistic performance of glass reinforced plastic (GRP) composite plates containing coarse sized sand filler was investigated as an attempt towards developing a low cost armored system. In all, 10 different types from 4 to 12 layers E-glass chopped strand mat polyester resin 0, 10, and 20% 600- 700-μm were tested. A smooth barrel gas gun used conduct high velocity tests in the range 70–185 m/s. Results indicated higher ballistic for GRP with terms limits (velocity at which least 50% samples partially or fully penetrated target zero residual velocity), particularly highest loadings. Energy absorption associated these specimens also showed performance. Delamination identified dominant failure mode, particular thicker loading. Specific energy per weight unit area diminishing effectiveness increase loading, thereby limiting its possible application system stationary objects only. POLYM.
