摘要: Injury that breached the physical skin barrier increases likelihood of infection. The wound healing process is divided into hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and tissue remodeling. Antimicrobial peptides play a major role for antimicrobial defense at all these stages in healing, but main sources vary with different coming from plasma proteins, neutrophils, keratinocytes. Apart being part defense, other important roles as angiogenesis, attraction leukocytes, resolution proliferation. Future studies will demonstrate whether can be used therapeutically to improve processes reduce scar formation chronic wounds.
