摘要: Abstract Addition of methyl-coenzyme M (CH3SCH2CH2SO3−) to undialized, anaerobic, cell-extracts Methanobacterium thermoautotrophicum under an atmosphere H2 and CO2 (80:20 v/v) stimulates 30-fold the rate reduction methane. For each mol CH3SCH2CH2SO3− added 12 methane is produced. This stimulation phenomenon requires magnesium ion, ATP, H2, CH3SCH2CH2SO3−. Neither reduced form cofactor, HSCH2CH2SO3−, nor oxidized, disulfide will replace methylated coenzyme.
