摘要: Abstract Background and purpose Stroke risk of asymptomatic atherosclerotic middle cerebral artery (MCA) stenosis has not been well studied. This study was designed to investigate stroke prognostic factors MCA stenosis. Materials methods A total 200 consecutive patients who visited the transcranial Doppler ultrasound (TCD) laboratory our hospital met following criteria were prospectively enrolled in this study: diagnosed as due atherosclerosis by TCD, age above 40 years old, no history ischemic or transient attack (TIA), ipsilateral carotid The mean follow-up time 38.3 ± 9.9 (range 4 60) months. Results Thirteen lost follow up. Seven (3.8%) developed TIA during period, with an occurrence rate 0.5% first year 1.6% second year. Three blood supply region diseased vessels, three contralateral hemisphere one case occurred posterior circulation. Univariate analysis showed that diabetes mellitus (DM) (X 2  = 9.168, p = 0.002) plaque  = 4.403, p = 0.036) associated higher cohort. Conclusions low remained stable Higher is DM plaque.
