摘要: This study examined the function of approach and avoidant coping on relations between exposure to violence post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms. The sample included seventy African-American, inner-city children (ages eleven fourteen). Tests moderating effects investigated mechanism two strategies, cognitive distraction behavioral avoidance. Cognitive was found moderate level such that, as increased, use related an increased frequency arousal. Behavioral avoidance moderated under higher violence, lowered problem-solving social support. Neither strategy showed significant effects. provided a first-step in examination within children.
