摘要: Breached levees often cause extensive flood damage to urban and residential areas; there has been considerable interest in the numerical modeling of flooding areas recent years. However, comprehensive data that describe complex flow field are not available for validating models or determining extent such damage. To fill this gap, results presented experiments on a scale model used as test setup examined an area attributable caused by levee breach. Steady state depths velocity were measured point gauge array ultrasonic profilers, respectively. In addition, surface velocities recorded entire flooded using digital particle tracking velocimetry technique. The details these measurements, limited data, observed characteristics study. Full sets provided Internet. investigations show closely spaced buildings act like single obstacle with common wake zone, is little between buildings. also strongest prebreach direction local topography plays important role distributing area. complete set may be utilized validate free flow.
