摘要: Abstract A gel filtration technique afforded a good separation between metal complexed with bacterial extracellular polymers and free ions. The complexation of extracted from cultures Klehsiella aerogenes activated sludge cadmium, nickel, manganese cobalt was demonstrated. extraction K. reduced the capacity cells flocs to adsorb metal. Adsorption metals by were fitted Freundlich equilibrium isotherms. Saturation polymer binding sites occurred at 10 mg 1 −1 additions for all studied except which very limited extent. Cells exhibited no saturation effects in range concentrations studied. Precipitation below concentration minimal, exception cadmium precipitation. At , precipitation may have been major mechanism removal. more soluble generally displayed lowest removals. Concentrations chelating agents be important controlling removals are largely sludge.
