Geographies of business education: MBA programmes, reflexive business schools and the cultural circuit of capital

摘要: MBA programmes and the business schools that teach them have been identified by geographers social scientists as central actors in dissemination of economic management theories into practice through concepts such cultural circuit capital. However, ways which exigencies impact upon these within capital has received less attention. In response, this paper draws on research conducted teaching learning corporate valuation techniques leading their use finance London to consider how (re)production impacts institutional pedagogical strategies schools. I combine work geography spatialities knowledge with debates amongst theorists surrounding future identify importance embodied expertise financial theory practice. These skills a relatively ‘sticky’ geography, typically being best learnt rather than classrooms. argue are responding rendering themselves materially discursively ‘mobile’ at both curricula level, adopting range initiatives aimed (re)positioning closer so doing, develop conceptual understandings ‘circular’ nature well calling for schools, broader education sector, be more topic geographical inquiry.
