摘要: Gastric cancer is the fourth most common malignancy worldwide and second leading cause of cancer-related death. Despite advances in medical surgical management this neoplasm, mortality remains high at approximately 60–80 % 5 years. A number factors have been proposed to account for these disappointing results. These include a lack understanding molecular events driving carcinogenesis blanket application cytotoxic therapies into patients with advanced disease without considering genetic abnormalities underlying their disease. Recently, numerous studies emerged elucidating aberrations tumor suppressors oncogenes epigenetic levels. led discovery key driver mutations thought underlie malignant process gastric cancer. Such permitted classification types along as opposed histologic lines. Accordingly, genes attractive targets individualized therapies. In chapter, mechanisms are reviewed
