摘要: Abstract Around 30,000 14 C yr BP, multiple landslides in the Quebrada de Cafayate (26°S, 66°W) dammed Rio las Conchas and caused a lake Santa Maria Basin, NW Argentina. Since climate could have played major role landslide generation, we used lake-balance model to compare present-day with conditions during landsliding. This reveals that hypothetical would stabilize around 70 m below reconstructed paleolake level. The volume of water body be one third corresponding volume. However, minimum 10–15% increase mean-annual precipitation accompanied by at least 3–4°C drop temperature result stable level elevation. implies wetter cooler BP as compared present. Wetter turn help explain enhanced landsliding this time.
