Enhanced Antibacterial Activity of Silver-Coated Kapok Fibers Through Dopamine Functionalization

摘要: As a biopolymer-modified building block, poly-dopamine layer can be utilized with wide range of inorganic and organic materials for an adsorptive microbial remediation. In this study, dopamine (DOPA) was used as structural platform to bind silver onto the surface kapok fibers, composite surface-modified fibers coated DOPA along were successfully manufactured. After silver-coating process, very strong antibacterial property exhibited against Staphylococcus aureus high efficiency, over 99 %, which could last 48 h in peptone water. Enumeration determination carried out spread plate method. For comparative activity raw chemically enhanced also evaluated. The results indicated that useful controlling on environment.
