摘要: Background Inguinal lymph node metastases in patients with anal cancer are an independent prognostic factor for local failure and overall mortality. status can be adequately assessed sentinel biopsy, the radiotherapy strategy subsequently changed. We compared this technique vs. dedicated 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (PET) to determine which was better tool staging inguinal nodes. Methods Materials In our department, 27 (9 men 18 women) underwent both biopsy PET-CT. PET-CT performed before treatment then at 1 3 months after treatment. Results scans detected no 20 of remaining 7. Histologic analysis only three (four false positives). HIV not found influence results. None negative developed during follow-up period. had a sensitivity 100%, predictive value 100%. Owing high number positives, specificity 83%, positive 43%. Conclusions series cancer, superior
