摘要: ‪The role of mathematics in the education Dutch army officers changed dramatically early 19th century. This shift became visible with founding Royal Military Academy 1828, which shows military shifting toward a purely pedagogical function. change approach, primarily occurred 1860’s, affected standing and perception an academy once highly respected field mathematics. In present work, I examine both curricula at crucial Academy’s instructors Mathematical Society Sciences. Importantly, these two institutions managed to successfully adapt changing character mathematical sciences that around 185 Mathematicians Academy, however, appeared cling outdated view Failing update their approach ultimately caused lose its prominent place community.‪
