Strong polaritonic interaction between flux-flow and phonon resonances in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+x intrinsic Josephson junctions : Angular dependence and the alignment procedure

摘要: Abstract Bi 2 Sr CaCu O 8+ x single crystals represent natural stacks of atomic scale intrinsic Josephson junctions, formed between metallic CuO –Ca–CuO and ionic insulating SrO–2BiO–SrO layers. Electrostriction effect in the layers leads to excitation c -axis phonons by ac-Josephson effect. Here we study experimentally interplay velocity matching (Eck) electromagnetic resonances flux-flow state small mesa structures with optical phonons. A very strong interaction is reported, which formation phonon-polaritons infrared Raman-active transverse special focus this work made on analysis angular dependence resonances. We describe an accurate sample alignment procedure that prevents intrusion Abrikosov vortices fields up 17 T, essential for achieving high-quality at record high frequencies 13 THz.
