摘要: Slow lorises Nycticebus spp. are heavily targeted in the illegal animal trade through- out Southeast Asia. Because venomous, many have their teeth inhumanely removed by traders order to 'tame' them live as pets or be used for tourist photography. Confis- cated animals brought rescue centres where captive care and rehabilitation has proven challenging. Many report high mortality, rates of abnormal behaviour, low successful reintroductions. Most centres, however, provide little no gums saps these highly specialised exudativorous primates. Our study evaluated effects exudate- based enrichment efforts on confiscated wild-born slow at a centre Java, Indone- sia, including methods exudates lacking teeth. We found that enrich- ment prolonged foraging feeding times, but did not reduce behaviour promote social behaviour. strong relationship between amount time spent ground performing discuss positive implica- tions prolonging periods, practicality each different types settings, improving welfare via dietary changes.
