摘要: A two-dimensional plan view numerical model based upon the shallow water equations is developed to simulate tidal dynamics of complex estuaries, rivers, and bays. The finite difference technique conserves mass, momentum (with no dissipation) energy. also allows for easy employment boundary conditions uses little computer time. applied Chesapeake Bay with its varying bathymetry many tributaries, showing simulations accurately predict available observations. presence residual eddies were detected. Numerical demonstrate that a bottom friction coefficient K=0.0025 (C=approx. 63) appropriate.
