摘要: Abstract Aim There is a need to bridge the data gap concerning regional deposition of electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) emissions in airways. The present work aims experimentally and precisely asses aerosol ENDS using an ex vivo model lungs as complementary approach determinist computational alternative animal or human experiments. Methods refill liquid recent tank generation was radiolabelled with sodium pertechnetate. Particle size distributions – mass radioactivity were determined cascade impaction technique. airways both calculated assessed by gamma-camera imaging on controlled breathing mimicking intrapleural depression thanks negative pressures sealed enclosure. Results aerodynamic diameter 1.03 ± 0.11 μm 0.87 ± 0.03 μm (mean ± SD) mass, respectively. calculations led thoracic 92.89 ± 0.03% 92.74 ± 0.19% radioactivity, experimental obtained quantifying deposited planar scintigraphy 91 ± 4%. Conclusions radiolabelling did not affect particle distribution allowed assessment two-dimensional imaging. When compared, no significant difference between calculation could be found. Moreover, seemed good accordance previously published data. This supports conclusion that this preclinical respiratory used assess generated ENDS.
