摘要: Abstract The stratigraphic, taphonomic and biologic records from two cores in Copano Bay, Texas were analyzed to determine (1) whether variations shell content with depth caused by carbonate preservation, production or sedimentation rate (2) the extent which characteristics of fossil assemblages, such as species composition, numerical abundance, biomass, trophic habitat structure, identified similar different trends. Below top few cm sedimentary column, could be attributed production. Most biological attributes varied similarly and, hence, time on both long (⪖100 yr) short (∼10 temporal scales. These not explained any process, sediment reworking burial, rate. Despite a vigorous milieu, obtain Bay sediments requires preservation nearly all produced. Preservation large fraction added most relatively large-shelled biota (large adults) retain important evidence changes community's history this area. results reemphasize importance individuals biomass paleontologic reconstruction suggest that community productivity, usage, must are preserved record.
